American Gun

We as Americans like guns, or love them depending on who you ask. I live in north Texas where most citizens do have firearms. But so do the bad guys. in fact the bad guys have the better weapons from extended magazines to modified upper receivers to fire full auto let alone bump stocks, and there is usually more bad guys than good in situations where firearms are necessary. but the truth is there will always be guns in our society, form hunting rifles to handguns. Without a doubt i believe this world is a better place if good people have guns too. regardless a criminal will get a weapon and commit a crime if they desire to do so, whether it is a gun, knife, car or chair. Maybe if the response time for the latest school shooting wasn't 90 min. in Florida this week, or the still questionable response time for the Vegas shooting maybe, the public would have more confidence in the police force that's meant to protect them and we wouldn't feel the need to arm ourselves.

As I grow older i realize we are responsible for ourselves, and the safety of our families. for example if a home invasion occurs and you are armed and trained in the protection of your home youv'e got a better chance of survival if you take action yourself instead of calling 911 and hiding under the covers waiting for help to arrive. As a young child around eleven or twelve my sister came home from running away shortly after I came home from school but she brought a guest, a full grown man and they proceeded to rob our home. at that moment i was scared for my life i didnt know who this man was in my home. I remember wanting to grab a knife and stab him but i was to afraid that i was wrong or I wasn't strong enough to finish the job. But had we been properly armed I would have defended my families home instead of running up to my room and hiding in my closet scared. I didnt even consider calling 911 for fear that during that time I would be killed. After the fact I later found out the man was over forty and a pimp that had brainwashed and captured my sister, I regret the actions i did NOT do to this day.

At the very least citizens should be able to purchase home defense weapons if they choose to do so. I strongly believe it is our decision how we protect ourselves not politicians or police officials BUT US. In fact I can believe that police officers have weapons in there home to defend themselves because they know that they are the first and last line of defense when it comes to protecting their families. Heres another great example; Back home in Minnesota a year or two ago a couple was walking in a park at night and was approached by a teenager who proceeded t orob them by gun point, but thank goodness the couple was armed and somehow was able to get a shot off and protect himself. unfortunately a life was lost but two innocent lives were saved. Or what about in Wichita Falls Texas when two middle school girls were walking home from school and a young man drove up beside them and gunned them down with a rifle, had there been someone with a weapon there maybe he would have only been able to get one shot off before he was fired upon.

People will argue that when the second amendment was written they didnt think that guns would be like they are now. well thats not the point. The writers knew that whether it be defending your home or yourself from danger or a tyrannical government you are able to do so. Guns have changed but so has the level of danger. In 2017 guns were involved in about 126,592 robberies in the U.S. some of those were in your state! maybe even your neighborhood.

I would like to believe the higher powers of the U.S. government do not want to disarm the citizens so they can control us more passively but everyday the actions say different. All the history lessons ive been taught when it comes to governments oppressing there people it all starts with the seizures of guns and basic rights.

So if you happen to not agree with gun rigths simply don't involve yourself but be aware that in a situation when your life is threatened who are you going to rely on?
